Privacy Policy

MixStays is a free trip-planning tool that finds the cheapest way to sleep several nights in a city by splitting your stay across hotels. We built it to need as little of your data as possible — this page explains exactly what we handle and why.

The short version

• You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, email, or payment details.
• We don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising trackers.
• We don't book hotels or take payments — you do that directly with the hotel or your chosen booking site.

What we collect

Search inputs. When you run a search we process the city, dates, number of nights, and any preferences you set (budget, minimum nights, star rating, and so on). These are used only to compute and return your plan.

Standard technical logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic request data — IP address, browser type, and the time of the request — to keep the service secure and reliable. We don't use this to identify or profile you.

Cookies. MixStays uses only what's strictly necessary to make the site work. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Hotel price caching

To keep searches fast, we temporarily store hotel rates for popular city-and-date combinations in a cache. This data is about hotels and prices — not about you — and it expires automatically after a short period.

Third-party services

MixStays relies on a few trusted providers to run. When you use the site, your request may be processed by:

• Vercel — hosting and delivery of the website and search function.
• Upstash — the temporary price cache described above.
• TripAdvisor (via Xotelo) — the source of live hotel rates we display.
• OpenStreetMap — the map tiles that show hotels and your route.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy terms. We share only what's needed to fulfil your search — never your personal details, because we don't collect them.

Your rights

Because MixStays doesn't hold an account or personal profile for you, there's nothing tied to your identity to access, correct, or delete. If you have a question about your data or believe we hold something we shouldn't, contact us and we'll help.

Children

MixStays is intended for adults planning travel and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
