How it works
What is MixStays?
MixStays finds the cheapest way to sleep a set number of nights in a city by splitting your stay across hotels, instead of booking one hotel the whole time.
How can switching hotels be cheaper?
Hotel prices swing night to night. One place is cheap mid-week but pricey on the weekend; another is the reverse. We price every hotel on every night and stitch together the cheapest combination — even after accounting for the hassle of moving.
Where do the prices come from?
Live rates from TripAdvisor (via the free Xotelo API), pulled per hotel per night for your exact dates.
Planning your trip
Is moving hotels worth the hassle?
That's your call. Set a “hop penalty” — a flat cost per move — and a minimum nights per stay. MixStays only suggests a switch when the savings clearly beat the hassle.
Can I limit how often I move?
Yes. Cap the number of switches, set a minimum nights-per-stay so there are no one-night pit-stops, or add a star-rating floor. Open “Fine-tune your plan” under the search bar.
Which cities are supported?
London is the default today, with more cities coming. Any TripAdvisor destination can be added by its location key.
Booking & payment
Does MixStays book the hotels for me?
No — MixStays plans the cheapest itinerary. You book each stay directly with the hotel or your favourite booking site, so you keep any loyalty perks.
